May tread familiar noir territory, but its execution, atmosphere, and willingness to keep the audience thinking make it a compelling thriller.
“Smudge the Blades”
The real payoff is watching these kids find some pride and solidarity in a place that hasn’t always given them much of either.
“Norm: The Tale of Norm MacDonald”
A hell of a reminder of what made Norm special. There was nobody quite like him in the comedy world, and there still isn’t.
“Assets and Liabilities”
Slow, aimless, and frustratingly thin on substance, this feels like a sketch of a film rather than a fully realized one.
“Jane Elliott Against the World”
An illuminating documentary that captures the unwavering belief that racism can be confronted head-on with enough courage and conviction.
“The Last Temptation of Becky”
A gloriously gory, over-the-top historical romp that puts a bloody new spin on the popular franchise.
